Privacy policy
This website is deliberately lean: it uses no cookies, no tracking and no analytics. Only the data that is technically necessary to deliver its pages is processed.
1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Hendrik Damm. Email: hendrik.damm at fh-dortmund.de.
2. Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA, and delivered through its content delivery network. When you open a page, Vercel processes technically necessary connection data, in particular your IP address, date and time of access, the requested URL, the referrer URL and browser and operating-system information (user agent). This data is used solely to deliver the website and keep it secure (for example to fend off attacks) and is not combined with other data.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest lies in providing the website securely and efficiently. Vercel processes the data as a processor under a data processing agreement. Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR); in addition, the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses apply (Art. 46 GDPR). Log data is kept only as long as necessary for these purposes.
3. No cookies, no tracking
No cookies are set and no analytics, advertising or social-media services are embedded. Fonts are served from this domain; no connection to Google Fonts or any other third party is made.
If you switch the colour theme, your choice is stored only locally in your browser (local storage) and is never transmitted. This is strictly necessary for the service you explicitly requested (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
4. Contact by email
If you email me, I process your address and the content of your message to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). The data is deleted once it is no longer needed for this purpose, unless statutory retention obligations apply.
5. External links
This website links to external services such as Google Scholar, ORCID, DBLP, ResearchGate, LinkedIn, DOI resolvers and publisher websites. Data is only transferred to these providers when you click a link; their privacy policies then apply.
6. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). Simply contact me by email. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia.
